Canadian Film ‘Pseudo – Blood Of Our Own’ In Theatres April 13

MARCH 20, 2012 – CALGARY, AB – Calgary, AB based Canadian Bollywood Films is thrilled to announce the release of “Pseudo – Blood Of Our Own” in theatres across North America on April 13, 2012. The film releases in select Empire theatre locations in Canada and Reliance Big Cinemas in the US.
In a city where streets are overrun by drug dealers, those who have sworn to uphold the law are breaking it to better suit their own needs. Four friends CHEEMA, JAMAL, JOHNNY and JUGGY who are high school friends only have one thing in mind (Fast Money). They all get into the drug trafficking industry for different reasons but a common goal – get rich fast. Helped by a friend, a cop nicknamed SLEAZE, an officer whose methods of enforcing the law are questionable, they co-ordinate a series of raids against known drug dealers and steal from them. But when money and power is involved it doesn’t take much to turn on each other. When it becomes clear to both the drug boss and Sleaze’s hit squad that everyone is playing a dark game of lies and deceit, everyone suddenly feels himself in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy and is in a race to uncover the true intention of the other man in time to save himself. But will either of them be willing to turn on friends and comrades they’ve made during their long years? ‘Pseudo’ follows Sleaze as he takes the law into his own hands and the power of money becomes obvious and the loyalty and trust among friends is put to test.
A bold experiment in the growing genre of cross-cultural films, Pseudo is an action packed drama. The film is sure to push the boundaries of what people have come to expect from the conventional cross-cultural films. “We wanted to make the film entertaining and worth the price of admission. Audience will be pleasantly surprised and find the film to be very different from what has come out of North-America in the name of cross-cultural films in the past”, says Harsimran Dhillon who is the producer. “Even though the plot is fictional, we wanted to make the characters as real-life as possible”, adds Gursimran, the director of the film.
Top international British model and recently named in Eastern Eye magazine’s list of World’s Top 50 Sexiest men, Naresh K plays the lead role of Sleaze. Toronto heartthrob and hip-hop artist TayShawn Prinse plays Jamal. An ensemble of upcoming local talent makes up rest of the cast led by Winder Gill, Paul Grewal, Thi Vo, Zarif Alibhai and Raji Samra.
The film is directed by Gursimran Dhillon from a screenplay written by himself and Colin Drake. Gursimran, a reservist with the Canadian Forces, is a young aspiring director who has worked on numerous Punjabi music videos and is making his debut as a director with Pseudo. Gursimran’s background of being able to work in different areas of the creative process, his knowledge of multiple languages and having lived in India and Canada gives him the edge and ability to make films of the cross-cultural genre.
Harsimran Dhillon, an engineer by profession, who is the producer, has a lot of experience managing projects, both big and small. He has acted as production manager on various music videos and short films made by Canadian Bollywood Films.

Film producer Harsimran Dhillon and director Gursimran Dhillon collaborated with the talented composer and music director Mandeep Dhaliwal to select the songs featured on the soundtrack which play an integral role in the film.
“Working with Mandeep on Blood Of Our Own’s soundtrack was an extraordinary experience,” said Harsimran. “The film has multiple levels of reality so, the same concept had to be considered and applied when approaching the music. The selection of songs we made and the various ways in which they were each envisioned had to add depth, dimension and meaning to the sequences they exist within. Mandeep did an amazing job creating an intricate musical landscape to accompany the surreal imagery of the film,” Gursimran added.

Fascinatingly reworked versions of the Punjabi folk song “Jagga” illuminate the soundtrack. The rap version is strong and edgy and is sure to strike a chord with the younger generation while the classic version will be appreciated by the mature audience for its unique presentation. “Paise Da Khel” beautifully sung by Rai Jujhar is the backbone of the film driving the relationship between the characters, their struggles with the inner-self and the lengths they are willing to go to achieve their goals in life.
